The VI Peel

The VI Peel is the peel this practice leads with. It is designed to revitalize skin by targeting visible signs of aging, uneven skin tone, and active or hormonal acne, for a smoother, clearer, more radiant-looking complexion. Individual results vary.

Several VI Peel formulations are offered for the face — Original, Advance, Precision + Pep, Purify and Purify Precision + Pep — and it is also used on body areas, from the hands and elbows to the back and legs. Which one suits your skin is decided at consultation.

How a peel works

A chemical peel applies a solution that loosens the bonds holding dulled surface cells in place, so that skin beneath is exposed as they lift away. Peels are used for texture, tone, congestion and general clarity, and they are often worked as a course rather than as a single treatment.

Depth and formulation matter more than strength. A peel chosen well for your skin type and your schedule is more useful than the strongest one available, and choosing it is what the consultation is for.

Before and after

Your skin is assessed first, and you will be told how to prepare — some active skincare ingredients are paused for a period beforehand. Recent sun exposure and certain medications can affect suitability and timing, so mention both.

Afterwards, skin is more sensitive to sun for a period and daily protection is part of the treatment rather than an optional extra. Written aftercare is given to you at the appointment, specific to the peel you had.

VI Peel is a named treatment platform, and this page describes what it is designed to do. Individual results vary, and whether it is appropriate for you is decided at a consultation rather than from a web page.

Questions about Chemical Peels

Will my skin peel visibly?

It depends on the peel and on your skin. You will be told what to expect for the peel you are having — and if you have something coming up, say so, and the timing will be planned around it.

Can a peel be used if I have active acne?

The VI Peel is designed with active and hormonal acne in mind, but whether it suits your skin on a given day is decided when your skin is assessed. Individual results vary.

How many will I need?

The number depends on your skin and the concern, and it is discussed at consultation before you begin.

Can I have a peel if I use retinoids?

Often yes, but they are usually paused for a period beforehand. Bring a list of what you use — including anything acid-based — to your consultation.
